It's not just this administration, nor the last, it is a prevailing idea of entitlement that has gone on in D.C. for at least the last 80 years. If the respective parties had to pick up the tab for the campaigning you bet it would change, but as long as the politicians can make it so the taxpayer pays for the lavish lifestyle nothing is going to happen. There is a state legislator here whose district is 65 miles from the capitol, but managed to rack up over $130,000 in travel expenses going back and forth. When I was on the road (as are a lot of the guys on this site) my commute was usually 50 miles or more and I managed to get to and from work for less $10,000 a year. This kind of pillaging of the public coffers has to stop.
