Don't always trust the marks by MISS UTILITY...just plowed through several phone drops today 10' away from the marks.  Buy a decent locator and use it when in doubt.
As far as any "How To" information, all I can say is good luck.  UG work is mostly trial and error.  Experience will be your best education...and like the previous post,  get some good insurance.
