Re: Bidding For Jobs #2

As for selling satellite systems, look around and see how many satellite stores have closed.  There is no bidding or mark up in the satellite business.  To get in the business you need to know that you are loaning money to every customer you sell.  The customer can cancel for anyreason and you have lost all the money and probably the equipment.  Apparently the only way to make it in the installation side is to get a contract with one of the satellite providers to manage an area.  These are hard to come by.  Those that get these contracts only survive by cheating the subcontractor.

I would not consider the satellite business from the contractor point of view.  Now if you were into sales and could figure out how to sell, choose something you can make a profit from and not have to put your money at risk from the whim of some phone operator that will cancel a contract for any reason.
