Go with the 'N' class router. It's usually only 15-$20 bucks more. Covers more area and allows for faster throughput for file transfers within the LAN network.
I also applaud you (a lineman) for reaching out to us lowly, scum-sucking, waste-of-time, ladder climbing sissy installers for directions. Just goes to show that HFC systems are a yin/yang on knowledge. Need both to get it all working.
