Here's a little known and little reported fact. When the Exxon Valdez had its spill it was made worse by guess who........... BP.
At the time of the spill Exxon, Shell and some of the other oil companies all had a contract that in case of a spill emergency response
for clean up and containment was contracted out. That company that was awarded the contract was none other than B.P.
They did nothing for 10 day's (sound familiar) then they handled the clean up so badly that Exxon stepped in and took over.
They have a record of piss poor management and safety violations. Last year B.P. had over 700 violations on their off shore rigs. The rest of the industry had 2..... Kind of makes you wonder who they paid off to get the drilling rights don't it?
