I work with a lot of the engineers from COX from time to time and the word I got was that corporate wants to make the pay rates for contractors in every system the same across the board. Does not matter if it costs more to work and do business in one area of the country or not. A fiber splicer in VA will get the same rate as one in CA. But the big problem is they are not going to pay either of them a descent wage. They are also going to do the same for in-house employees. They are lowering the salary caps on all their positions promoting or fire/lay off the people at the top pay rate of their job. They figure they can better control costs and budget more effectively. Makes the bottom line look better.
