Israel and America believe in freedom

Israelis are surrounded by neighbors who are pledged to kill them. They have sought to live peaceably in the midst of hatred. Consider their formation as a democracy in 1948. Immediately, they were attacked from all sides, by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Nice neighbors, huh?

They have dealt with suicide bombers blowing up school buses, striking markets, hotels, etc. The Palestinians have rained rockets on them.

These people who pledge Israel’s destruction are radical Islamists. They are terrorists. Do you remember 9/11? To the terrorists, we are as “bad” as Israel. A terrorist struck at Fort Hood. Our worst nightmare in America is a 9/11 nuclear attack. The danger is real.

Now, is Israel perfect? Is America perfect? Of course not. What binds Israel and America is the belief that we have a right to be free, that we fight for freedom from tyranny and someone controlling us whose ideology we do not agree with.

I think we should encourage Israel on the world stage, where it is the step-child some love to hate.
