Yes, there is a jacketed fuse disc. I still run across it in Dayton East cells when doing cable replacements. Had to look twice the first time I ran across it to make sure it wasn't MC2, but it was definitley fused disc. .500. I think they should have made all fused disc jacketed just to help keep it from kinking so easy. Actually had to retro fused disc in Kannapolis, NC, where the chief tech wanted loops bent to the correct side of the pole on turn around. He swore up and down it could be done. Well, he proved it, after showing a couple of us how it was done. Only thing was it took him like 25 minutes to bend one .500 loop. He decided to let us roll with the equipment on the side it was exisiting on. Whenever I run across the old .750, even the non-jacketed .500, and I have to retro an amp or LE in, I just cut it out bug-nut to bug-nut and straight splice some to new tails to work with. Quicker than trying to keep it from kinking. I definitely keep busy cutting over replacements for several days after a good rain, where it takes on water in the squirrel chews, and causes high band roll off.
