And the point you make is indeed the right way to go in my opinion. I worked that way (took care of my own damage claims as I posted earlier) and didn't turn in the claim to insurance. GL is the same as auto insurance (hell, like ANY insurance actually) and that means this; file a claim and your cost will go up. It's business. Get the largest deductable possible to keep your costs down as low as possible, then don't make any claims.
