Well, it has been 4 months since we adopted Daisy from a county pound that is a kill pound; they keep the dogs for 3 days in case the owner comes looking for the dog, but after that, the dogs are generally euthanized shortly after as the intake of dogs far exceeds the pounds capacity. Daisy came to us (unknowingly) a sick little girl with parvo. Several hundred dollars and several weeks later she had beaten the disease which often carries with it a sure death sentence. I am certain that my previous dog Tripp guided us to Daisy as the 2 mirror the troubles they had in the beginning of life and both mirror each others remarkable recoveries. To this I say, Thankyou Tripp, though you are greatly missed, you will never be forgotten.
So Daisy has really adapted well and we (including her vet) couldn't be more pleased with her progress. She has gained 3 lbs (which is alot for a little dog) and is maintaining a consistent weight of 10lbs. She has filled out very nicely, gets lots of exercise and is just one helluva muscular little puppy. She is very affectionate, and has to be around somebody. She plays, runs and hops, literally hops like a bunny or a gazelle, talks to you, just alot of company with a wonderful personality. She is quite the entertainer.
We are working on her barking as she doesn't seem to take to strangers very well. Yes that is a good thing, but when the kids friends come over to spend the night, it isn't cool when Daisy barks and growls at them in the house. But we are working on it, I take her everywhere I go that I can take her with, to socialize her and it seems to be slowly working. Daisy has a thing about birds tho, and when she is outside, she goes nuts barking at the ones in our yard or the neighbors yard, or flying overhead, etc...
But as a whole, she really has been the perfect match for this family, of which she is absolutely a permanent part of now. Daisy brings so much happiness and smiles and we just love her to death. I still find myself calling her 'Tripp' from time to time, but as far as I am concerned, it is a compliment.
I want to thank everyone for their support of one of the most difficult times in my famillys life when Tripp had gotten sick, and when we got Daisy. It just proves that cable dawgs have heart, it just sucks it takes a tradgedy for it to come out. Here are some pictures of her, one with the cone of shame when she was spayed, and some others with how good she looks now and how comfortable she has become.
