you bring up a good point mitchell - I liked the "idea" of addressable taps, which would have solved the need for unproductive time of doing discos, BUT they fry to easy and therefore cause more trouble than they are worth !  Until they solve some of the issues with addressables they will still need to disco drops so noise, ingress, and egress do not become a major issue in nodes.  Most major MSOs are going to the same "box only" system. It is a good idea, but we will have to see what the issues will be on this as well... I see more TCs in the future for in-house techs to run on .............
