So you want tons of salt in your food?

This is not a "government take over".

The FDA is just telling food manufacturers not to add so much salt. What in the hell is wrong with that? The amount of salt the manufacturers use in food is over kill, we all know it. To add it strictly as a preservative to increase shelf life is just not right.
 
We all need salt in our diet. The guideline is around 2200mg per day. Anything above that could prove to be harmful to your health. A Big-Mac from McDonalds has around 1000mg of sodium. If you have fries, that adds around 450mg of sodium. If you have a soda, that adds around another 80mg of sodium. That is around 1500mg of sodium for one meal.

Too much salt in the diet has been linked to high blood pressure, which 1 in 3 american adults currently have.

In my opinion, salt should be used sparingly in the manufacturing of food products. It should then be left up to the individual to add the amount of salt that they want to use.
