You were an employee and he is now responsible for your taxes. Form SS-8 from the IRS. If they paid you a check just act dumb and say I thought they were deducting payroll taxes. Again go to unemployment and act dumb and pretend they are geniuses.
You drove their vehicle, wore their uniform, they paid for gas, they set forth the hours of work, they supplied all materials, and they set forth how those installations were to be done. 1099 contractors do not get paid holidays or vacation. Essentially he had you working off the books full time and thats called tax evasion.
