Yes I understand that splicer my issue is I want to retrans in the clear just for the people who have high def sets, use a qam modulator at 256 qam and no box at the house. The box is just way too much money for us to invest in at a litttle over $400per with a dvr we just cant do it. The headend gear isnt too bad approx $25k for hqt but the box at the house is the real killer esp with some houses having 4 or more sets. I dont understand the issue with espn,or any other programmer for that matter, we already pay for the programming and the hd is the same programming just in hd so we would essentially be dual illuminating the same programming in two formats. The folks with digital tvs would have two espns and the people without would have it in analog basic.
