The man said he was going to be an employee not a sub which means either way the company provides or he isn't a real employee.
The real question is whose employee-a contractor or actually dtv.  Inhouse dtv makes less than a sub but as an employee you can't be subject to the bs chargebacks mentioned.  Secondly it will depend on what you will be doing for them.
