its bs to say that the dems or repubs caused the recession. Although niether groups policy really helped. Yes loans were allowed not encourged by some dems, but that is only through hud. Hud operates under banks such as fannie and freddie mac. You must remember that the banks that went bankrupt were many. These banks were also not under the control of the fed or govt like freddie or fannie. Take lehman brothers for example. The govt cannot force a bank to make a loan. The banks chose to because the loans could be packaged together and sold and for a profit. But far to many banks held onto far too many junk loans and hence went down one by one. Wall street is to blame for wall streets failure. The american people are victims of oligopolies which control who we can chose to elect. Both groups allowed a bailout of the banks and insurance companies both seem to be commited to slowly remove more rights frome the american people. Republicans do it by telling you they need to protect you hence Homeland security,drug laws etc=Bs. Democrats do it by telling you they know how to take care of you =healthcare, SS, welfare.
