When the credit check came back and they commented on late payments you should have told them "that's because I been ripped off and not paid by ass weasel contracting companies like yours" The credit check is not so they can be sure you are not desperate enough to steal from the customers, but rather to ensure that you will be able to fund their company by paying for the stuff to get the jobs done till they get paid because they can't finance their own business.
