Yes but it isn't intended to pay for people who don't work on purpose for 6 months out of the year. If you purposely burn your house down you won't be paid any insurance. Its intended purpose is to get you by for the odd times you may be out of work. Yet people purposely go to work for part of the year, quit and then draw unemployment allowing other people's premiums to pay for their lives and then do it again. Try living in your house, burning it down, getting another one built and see how many times you will be insured.
