I worked on nantucket island for two years and I took those back and forth to the mainland all of the time they aren't that bad the thing that did work for me was having total confidence in the pilot because they can be a bit unnerving in high winds and bad weather but they are safe.
The tech-ops supervisor on nantucket is a pilot and I flew with him numerous times in some pretty bad weather it was a little bumpy but you get used to it.
Best of luck and look around at the scenery cause it is a view you almost never get in life so don't pass it up it is awesome
Just and FYI I am 6'6" and 280lbs so when your in the plane imagine being my size and see how claustrophobic it is and I still enjoyed it
