Yes we have always maintained official neutrality but during the Falklands War of 1982 we provided aid and intelligence to the British. Also of important note when we sent Sec. Of State Haig to try to broker a deal we demanded no language in it would refer to the islands as Malvinas, which is a major slap to the British that we have a high ranking Official in the Obama State Department doing just that.
Another thing to this whole affair in regards to the Reagan Admin. was there was a real fear by Pres. Reagan that this conflict could go nuclear. Of course all efforts to prevent the British from having to take care of the matter by peaceful means failed and they went in. On June 8, 1982 Pres. Reagan spoke to the British Parliament and referred to the fighting and praised the British. Hell you listen to him yourself.
