I understand what it is. I also understand why it was used and the reason it was brought into play. About 3 days ago I heard some news they wanted to abolish it after using it for health care. A simple majority is not how the Senate works. Under the Senate rules, reconciliation can only be used for legislation that pertains to budget items. Any provision of a bill that is not budget-related must be stricken if it is considered under reconciliation rules. It takes the vote of 60 senators to put something unrelated to the budget back into a bill.
