Harrican,
what everyone is talking about is what is called a sweep technician. When they say, setup your node they are meaning that you need to inject a signal back to your headend at a spec level so that your headend technician can make adjustments (padding) so that the level is hitting the CMTS at 0 db. Then you will write down your (tel) on your meter, which will be your reference number to use throughout the legs on your node.
