Anyone thinking of going to St Louis to work for Custom cable doing MDU's. I worked there last month for a sub contractor under Custom Cable BEWARE these guys expect you to run 3 individual rewires for the price of 1. It is composite pricing. The complex we rewired for them we had to run 2 lines on the back of the building to each apartment and one line on the front of each building for each apartment. The rewires on the front and back of the building were over 150ft long around 3 ft deep pillars not to mention we had to run all the rewires to the top of thebuilding and under the eaves. they are very strict about cable clips every 18 inches and all clips have to be in brick not mortar. It is rediculous the price they are paying and what they expect out of you. also lock boxes and conduit have to be anchored in brick as well no mortar. we had to wait 1 week in which we sat in a hotel(no exageration) and did nothing until they would allow us into the units to pull the rewires into the wall plate before they wanted us to start the next MDU as they won't allow you to start another building until you finish the first MDU competely. Also the Specs Charter has for the lockboxes is very time consuming and pays nothing extra they are using demark plates with jumpers from demark to tap. We also had a very hard time with getting supplies, they want to count out everything you get instead of giving you a bag of something they figure out how much you will need for the building. We were lucky to make $30-$40.00 per day when we did work. Also you can't bill for what you did, they give you an invoice telling you what you can bill that is pre approved from Charter. In Custom Cables Defense I think alot of the problem there was from Charter. Charter has figured out how to screw the tech over and is taking advantage. anyone going there, beware you will not make any money but you Will get plenty of sleep!!
