Re: Question about a damage claim

I'm looking for some input on this subject as well.  Basically a customer claimed i put holes in a roof (screw clips) maybe 3 on the very edge max and also burned a small 1" long strip of the carpet by laying a hot drill bit on it. I've never had a damage complaint EVER.  My employer told me I was responsible to pay $475 for the damages.  After speaking w/ them they have since lowered it to $275 and said they are doing me a favor. I signed an autorization to have the amount deducted from my paycheck. I am a contractor as well.  Is there any way to recoupe my money after signing this authorization already?  After reading this thread it appears they are in the wrong for doing this and should cover the full amount. My reason for agreeing to this payment in the first place was that if I did not sign they would reduce my daily routes to basically nothing and it would cost me far more than $275 in the long run due to lack of work.  Looks like im getting screwed either way. Thoughts?
