Our economy is a mixed economy. Our economy has 2 parts. The free market is one part, and the government is the other. The market side of our economy had already crashed. If the public side had froze spending, our entire economy would have been completely frozen. The difference between the recession we experienced and the depression we avoided, was the spending on the government side of our economy.

So yes, I feel if the government had stopped spending our economy would have crashed.
