Re: How can we Spend to Get Out Of Dedt, does that

The stimulus has worked. Obama's unemployment predicition was off because the unemployment numbers of the months between the time of him winning the election, and him being sworn in, were off.  Those numbers were higher than anyone predicted.  Bush was still president during this time. Obama, and every other economist, drastically under estimated the unemployment during that period.

The stimulus will work even better this year.  Remember, the largest part of the stimulus that has been spent were the tax cuts (if you really consider tax cuts spending) and the money for states to retain their teachers, firefighters, and policemen as well as extend UE benifits. Most of the construction spending has not yet occured. Also keep in mind that the stimulus bill was designed to work over a span of 2-3 years, not 6-9 months.

The one thing I DON'T understand about the stimulus is how tax cuts are considered spending. It's pretty funny. Think about it for a moment. When Obama, via the stimulus, cut taxes. It was considerd spending by the GOP.  But the GOP's answer to the economy is an across the board tax cut for everyone, which by their own definition is more spending. lol....... The GOP has been able to spin it to where, when dems cut taxes it's considered spending. But when the GOP wants to cut taxes, it's just cutting taxes.  lol......  They are GOOD!!
