Re: Question about a damage claim

Brenton, Listen my friend, after years of being in cable, both contractor and employee here are some very important points.

1. THERE IS NO GREY AREA, sorry to shout, but I am tired of seeing hard working guys get screwed like this!
2. An employee contractor is about the same as a unicorn- there is no such thing! You are an employee or a contractor- no in between and no combination of the 2. When filing taxes with the Federal Govt or your local State tax dept they will have no category for you because you are not 2 people. You must be one or the other.
3.If they provide you anything without a charge, yes even a ball cap or a pen, You are an employee. If you are a contractor you get a work order and that's it. If you need a pen u buy it, a clipboard- you buy it, a hat-u buy it. Anything-U BUY IT.

You need to contact your state LLR, Labor, Licensing, regulation baord. Ask for an investigator and explain the situation to him in detail. Actually first step is to put everything into writing every thing that has happened with as close as you can get to the date as possible. This is for your memory as well as LLR will ask for a written statement. The investigator should see the issues here and take it further. BE FOREWARNED. This will probably cost you your job, but personally I wouldn't grace those assholes with my knowledge.

Just my 2 cents.
