Yeah they were so bad. They have provided good jobs, and retirement pensions for GENERATIONS. Ever met a non-union retired CATV worker collecting a pension, I sure haven't.
GM & Chrysler are a perfect example of why we need healthcare reform. GM & Chrysler workers and retirees enjoyed good healthcare plans. Their competitors, like Toyota and Honda, are all from countries that have universal healthcare. GM & Chrysler competitors have NO healthcare costs, while Detroit is providing healthcare for both active and retired workers, in the country that has the highest price for healthcare service. Considering this healthcare handicap, I think Detroit has done pretty well.
