I actually don't think you have ever experienced a disaster situation (tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes). If you had then you know that the Red Cross is there and actually helping in a meaningful way. Thats alot more than I can say for the other organizations.
A tornado came through my home town and took everything me and my sister had. They help us with clothes, food, and getting another place to stay. They got the apartment complex that I lived at to let me move in with no deposit and they picked up the first month tab. They also gave me a voucher to go to the furniture store and get 2,000.00 worth of furniture. I know thats not much but it is alot when you have absolutely nothing.
The government came through with SBA loans at a very low interest rate to help in other ways. Please do not discourage people from lending a helping hand. Every dollar helps. The Red Cross is there for people.
