I would say work for a retailer as a last resort. Become a retailer if you can. Its not hard. Make a deal w/ a gas station to put a sign outside and a few pamphlets inside. Pay him 50 to a 100 bucks for each sale. Make hime your first customer. It can lead to so much work. I just put auto vents in for a direct tv customer of mine. 16 vents at $50.00 each, my price is 17.50. a nice profit for six hours of work. and I got a nice lunch out of her to.
