Your take is exactly right. Follow the money and you will see the true agenda. Everyone in the enviormental lobby wants to bow down to Al Gore for his global warming stance, yet it is a little discussed fact that he is a big player in the largest carbon credit trading company in the world. If Al wants any credibility, he should donate all of his earnings from credit trading to charity and not profit a dime from "saving the world". But he won't so how can anyone who looks at all of the facts, not just selected ones, conclude that this is not money driven.

GE is another big supporter of global warming. They are only the biggest maker of wind turbines etc. No profit motivation there either. And the scientists who are leading the charge are funded by grants from the government have no interest in perpetuating this either right.
