The thing is, most all of the United States is a 'right to work' country. This means you, the worker, can work anywhere you want, and quit anytime you want for any reason you want. But it is a double edged sword. A company can let you go anytime they want, for any reason they want. Check your local states laws but this is the majority of the states. Right or wrong. I am sure lawsuits will arise, but I am equally certain that they will be considered frivilous and go nowhere fast.
I am not condoning what they are doing, but at the same time I am not saying they aren't wrong. Well, at least as far as new hires go. We all know a guy here that went inhouse and he thought the 7 year rule applied. Nope, lifetime. Fortunately for him the old adage still applies in some companies, it isn't what you know, it's who you know that counts.
