I love my van, I made a sticker for the back window out of a 'salt life' and a vans skateboard sticker. The last co. I worked for, though, didn't have ANY vans. Not one. I thought the industry was moving towards the use of vans for installers, though. Thinking in the role of a customer, they look more professional out at the curb than someone's pickup. It gives a sense of preparedeness, protection, and improves visibility [OF the vehicle, not from inside it].
I'm asking you guys to sound off your thoughts on vans, and sport your set ups. Here's mine:
Full "headache" cage
slide-out parts bins that lock closed
1200w/2400w max inverter, wired to a surge protector in back, and splitter in cab, as well as 50-ft retractable fluorescent AC worklight
Two spool racks mounted inside shelves, with a pulley system to route wire out either door
One collapsible/portable cable caddy for in/around the house, and for situations I can't park at either end of a drop
Dual-sided angled overhead rack [not the easy-drop style, though I'm drooling over em], with pvc mounted for reach-rods/u-guard/pvc
Beacon light [used more for returning from beer runs after work than most times during work]
Loads of crap and odd tools I rarely find the use for.
Still looking for a decent price on a 6/12 a-frame/extension ladder combo, I can only seem to find em costing as much as a 28 footer.
