When I first started doing Directv back in 2003, my trainer taught us to NEVER get off your ladder. "The signal is coming from thousands of miles in space an extra 10-15 feet is not gonna make the signal come in stronger". They use to fire techs if they were caught on a roof. My thing is if a techs gets off his ladder to install a dish on the peak or any roof, who is gonna go on the roof when there is snow and ice on the roof or like thundercable said "high winds". I'm from Chicago - the windy city.
I've argued with supervisors and customers about getting off my ladder. If I fall nobody is gonna take care of my family. If you do fall the customers only concern would be who is gonna finish the job.
My motto - "Dave don't do roofs"
