i dont know if you have noticed this, but big business has run this country for a long time. you think supply and demand will make a difference? you think competition will make a difference? the only effect these will have is to decide WHICH big business will run it.
we are not a democracy now. we are a capitalist state governed by whoever spends the most to buy politicians.
the government is not the answer? who sets regulations then? you want to rely on each state to do the right thing? give me a break. its a hell of alot easier to buy a state government than it is to buy a federal government.
people are constantly talking about socialism but where are the complaints over the big business governing us? are you people seriously so happy to have your lives controlled by them? no one wants socialism, but alot of people want big business to maintain its power. funny thing though, its the businesses and stockholders who want this.
you think the government is ripping you off? think about how the gas prices dropped 3 dollars a gallon a year ago for no apparent reason. think about enron. think about ceo's getting millions of dollars in bonuses while their businesses go bankrupt. think about employers hiring illegals instead of americans, to save money. think about all the prescription drugs that have done untold damage to the american population (and the rest of the world). think about the faulty tires (or whatever) on ford explorers that were killing people. think about ground water, lake and ocean pollution done by industrial businesses.
then ask yourself this: who is the real enemy to the common man? someone trying to help people with healthcare or the insurance industry that has pushed it so far that its became neccessary?
think about both sides of these issues and maybe then you will understand what it means to be an independent.
