good points. i think that is 1 reason for the mandatory insurance for EVERYONE.
welfare is so far gone we have to chuck it completely. start with birth control, in my opinion. stop letting these people have child after child while we all pay for it.
the doctor is right about some other things too. my wife just had a baby yesterday and the doctors and nurses were great. the hospital had all the right equipment for the difficult birth and the professionals involved gave me every confidence that things would go well. all of this including the visits, labor, delivery, meds etc cost us 335 dollars. of course, my insurance costs me 98 a pay period and my employer somewhere around 600. i think it's around 18, 000 a year, off the top of my head.
the "social medical reform" that everyone is talking about has already been here for years and is paying for that woman's medicare. this doctor HAS been paying for her health care for years, so i'm not sure what reality he is from. this isnt going to change one way or the other with the reform.
reform doesnt have to include a "public option". the "public option" is there because a few democrats WANT it there, and since the votes are all going down "party lines", the democrats have to include it to keep all their "peeps" on board. if enough republicans said they would support the bill without the "public option", then it wouldnt be in there at all.
i dont know of very many people who dont want SOME type of reform. so, if we could all get on board with the important stuff, things like the "public option" would be left in the dust.
another reason it is there is because the insurance companies will need more customers to maintain their overall dollar profit. there needs to be another way to bring down insurance costs without forcing everyone to get insurance. perhaps tax breaks for insurance companies or some sort of incentive for insuring the working class who dont have work sponsored insurance.
