have you ever seen those little towns with 5 people in them? the only way they can become a town is to have a "post office". i am really curious to know how much those little phony towns cost us.
obviuosly, the postal service has always survived on its bulk deliveries, but volume is down so much, i dont know how they will survive. ups, fedex etc can provide the package delivery, but the little cheap letters are doomed. maybe they could go to digital scanning and reprinting, but this would still take alot of labor.
i would guess the postal service has run its course for usefullness. if we just give a computer and free internet service to everyone too poor to afford one...
