OK -
I'm from SoCal and found myself first doing walkout in Chicago and then working in Brainerd MN in Jan. The BEST pants I could find was Wrangler thinsulate lined jeans. Not as bulky as flannel lined and warmer. That and a pair of 880 thinsulateed boots and you'll do fine. The other guys can tell you abt gloves.
