Like most companies in Detroit, they were mismanaged. Too much debt from buying out Schlitz in the 80's and they never recovered. Pabst and Miller bought them out about 10 years ago and the company was dissolved. I think Pabst still bottles some "Stroh's" in Milwaukee on a small scale.
