Re: Tech helping Techs Stories

Ok so here goes the my story:
After not getting paid by SEI (Sanders Electronics in GA); we began our own investigation and action.  Here is what we found.

There is no business license for this company.  They do not legally exist.  The contract has "holes" in it.  That was verified by an attorney friend.  We contacted the local authorities (police), the GA District Attorney, and the FBI fraud department.

Everyone said they would do nothing about it.  The FBI stated that they felt it was just a grievance of not getting paid so they did not take it seriously.  The agent told me that they are not a collection agency!  The DA said that it was up to the local police to verify and send a response to the DA office.  The local cop said he didn't believe that any fraud was committed.

The BBB is of no use.  That is for consumers that get ripped off when purchasing something. We then moved on to our local congress and states attorney. Again, no help or interest.  We have talked with them in person and they just don't want to get involved or offer any assistance.

We contacted a few lawyers.  All of them want retainers up front. The cheapest was $8,000.  All agreed that the suit would probably be around $40,000 when complete.

We contacted Dish legal VP.  Again he states that there is no need to look into it. Even though Sanders has no license to operate a business.

The mechanics lien can only be applied if the contractor had his own contract with the client.  A work order will not stand up in court.  So this avenue proved futile as well.

Honestly; there is just no recourse on a small scale.  On a large scale; change is not possible as there is no funding to active change.  It takes money and no one is going to get together and give anything.

I can only think that a specific market would have to have all installers agree to not do installs. Strike or the like of.  See how quickly dish or direct get involved.  But who is going to stand up? No one.

Someone said that it has gotten like the 20's with the labor abuses.  However; the principles of the 20's working man to fight for his principles are gone.  Vanished.
