Re: Tech helping Techs Stories

The way it works with attorneys IS:
You write down all the facts, times and dates. List your damage or injuries.
You have a right to be "made whole" again. Some will take your case on a "contingency basis", meaning your case looks strong enough to win in court and they will take a percentage (1/3 is common) to represent you in court.
IF you cannot find an attorney to do the contingency deal you can hire one and pay them by the hour to do the same thing. IF none will proceed in this manner that is telling you something.

OR you can attempt to get yourself listed an an employee of the company you had done the work for. While every state is different, if you were in fact an employee the employer would have to have Workers Compensation Insurance to pay for injuries such as yours.

Here is the bad news. IF you were truly a contractor your rates should have been high enough to have an insurance policy in place to protect you from accidents on the job. Insurance is an overhead cost of any business and there is an ongoing debate over who pays these costs.

There also may have been Homeowner's insurance in place to protect the home owner from lawsuits from contractors like yourself.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Good luck.It it hard to give further comment without more  information.
