no one wants this to be a socialist country...we provide education for our children..paid for by all and enjoyed by those who arent to proud to send their kids to public...is this socialism? should we deny education for the less fortunate? education is the keystone of democracy, not capitalism but democracy...we provide military, police, a mail system (although its supposed to be somewhat self-supporting nowadays), subsidies for farmers and ranchers, national parks, fda, atf, cia, fbi...paid for by all for the betterment of all...but when someone suggests healthcare reform....well, SOCIALISM is yelled again and again...
the flaw i see in your logic is that you assume this reform is an excuse for a government change to socialism. you assume there is only 1 logical outcome to this path. you mistake genuine care for the people and business around us for a conspiracy for a government overthrow.
in this country it is illegal to take your life if you have a terminal disease that will kill you six months later...but it is not illegal to deny you health care (for a curable disease) if you can not afford it.
i have not read the act and i will probably not read it. but i dont see anything by any media that shows REAL direction towards the ruination of our country. sure, there's some fantastic claims by both sides (obama says program will pay for itself eventually and many republicans say "death panels" and loss of freedom) but ALL of these claims must be taken "with a grain of salt".
