That's what I thought. OP got promoted to a position that opened when his bossman also got promoted. Bossman couldn't cut it, so they both get demoted TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSITIONS. I don't understand how the bossman is still there. That actually seems to have loyalty coming out the woodwork. When I hear "restructuring," I think "lay offs all around."
