Only familiar with the DSAM. Whichever you decide make sure it is either Docsis 2.0 capable or can be upgraded to 2.0. That's the way the Industry is going. I know that the CM1000 is not. As for my preference I use the DSAM 6000b but had a 3600b. I think if you get to know it  it will save countless hours troubleshooting T/C and keep that repeat rate down. Just my 2c
