I guess my first question is to ask why do you need an 8 bay? A 4 bay will pretty much be al you need except in extreme cases.

You need to have one 2 bay above another 2 bay for one side, and the same for the other side. If possible, it would be best to connect the phase lines of the top and bottom 2 bays together, for both sides, and then use 2 equal length cables and combine the two sides. It is very important to keep the two halves in phase with each other or you will have a loss instead of a gain.
