J.L. - we aren't all bad here in houston.  every city (and especially during storm work)  has its bad primes to work for, but there are more stand-up primes here then slimeballs.  i've helped several people get in with good primes down here, BUT i have a very limited group i would work for and those are some of the ones i suggest to folks.   just because of a few idiots in storm repair were jerks, dont dog the whole city and its utility community , brother.   those of us who are locals know these idiots to be aware of and steer clear of them juust like every other big city.
