Obama as well as most democrats have stated ON TV that a "public option" is a gateway step to get to "Universal Healthcare" which every economist states IS A SOCIALIST PROGRAM. Americans are NOT socialists/communists. We are capitalist who believe in a free and open market. The US Constitution forbids "government businesses)
2. Sets up health insurance "exchanges," or marketplaces, where consumers can easily compare coverage and rates. (Lazy fuckers. I can do my own research. Who's paying for these "exchanges"??)
3. Requires nearly everyone to obtain health insurance coverage starting in 2013. (Or what?? Fines?? Penalties?? Jail?? Oh yea!! Nothing says "Freedom and Liberty" like mandatory action demanded by government)
4. Ends blanket exemption for insurers from anti-trust laws. (I agree with this part until someone can logically convince me otherwise. Free and Fair competition for all in an open market.)
5. Provides federal financial help for lower and middle income consumers so they can obtain coverage. (Who pays for that?? Where does that money come from?? Thin air maybe?? No ... OUR FUCKING POCKETS!! Sure sounds like a Tax to me. "If elected, you will not see any of your taxes increase. Not by one cent." - Sen. Obama on the campaign trail)
6. Bars insurers from denying or limiting coverage because of pre-existing conditions. (Does this now mean we can ask for a new law barring credit card companies from denying me a card because I got a shitty credit score?? That I can now rack up the charges into the tens of thousands of dollars and not pay any of it back?? Gee... This sounds a lot like a tool to be used against PRIVATE insurance companies that will financially RUIN them. Who takes over the insurance then?? Oh yea... The government has thier "public option", I can get that instead!! So ... over time and in the end, there will be NO PRIVATE insurance companies, just the government's "Public Option" which is now "Universal Healthcare" ...aka.... "A Single Payer System".)
7. Bars insurers from imposing lifetime limits on coverage. (So now I get a higher card limit too!! (see #6 comments as this helps kill the private insurers too)
8. Expands Medicaid coverage to more people. (See #5 comments)
9. Imposes a 5.4 percent surcharge on adjusted gross incomes of more than $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for joint filers. (Ummm... I read the bill. Where's the mention of the 8% tax on gross payroll to be paid by ALL businesses that cannot be then handed down to its workers. ALL businesses regardless of size. Also, those employees who do not choose the "public option" ... you as the boss, owner, small business owner STILL MUST PAY that 8% to a "trust fund" to pay for the "exchanges". The government is handing all business an 8% tax increase. Did you happen to notice that $500k income threshold?? I sure did. 98% of the Americans that pass that threshold are SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. They are about to crush the American financial engine. Small business keeps people working. Kinda hard to do that when you tax them out of business.)
10. Imposes penalties on people and businesses who fail to comply with the new law. (Someone in our recent world history did that too. His name was Adolf Hitler. Can you feel the Freedom now?)
