i've never heard the horizontal ground block thing before, in fact most kboxes i have seen are specifically designed to be installed vertically. however, if the gb was not in a kbox it makes sense to mount it horizontally.
i would have brought my input from the bottom up into the gb, then looped to the top of the splitter, with both outlets coming smoothly out of the bottom. the "s" from the output of the gb to the splitter and the output of the splitter are the bend radius issue.
i believe the spec is "bend radius should be no greater than 10x the diameter of the cable". if your cable is 1/4 thick, then your bend radius should not be greater than 2.5 inches. this is how i remember it anyway, been a while since i needed to know.
overall, the improvement is 100%. its good to see someone who takes real pride in their work.
