If you are just wanting to know when it came into play, it was when God was speaking to Moses, and He told him that was His name. In Exodus 6:3, He says,"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."
