IMO, the people who wrote this article know money and not technology. Wireline is still the backbone of everything. Even wireless. Cell towers don't work without the wireline services that feed the the towers. Wireline will be here for a long, long time. The only change wil be the services that the wireline companies provide.
Whether it's voice, video, data, or some other service not yet invented that comes across those lines, Vz and the rest will make their money. As long as they're getting $80-120 per customer for these services they are happy and will survive.
